Traditional Drawing Techniques – ongoing 2 hour weekly sessions – max class size 5
Explore drawing with pencils, shading, cross hatch, perspective, composition, values, shadow casting and other techniques. A traditional curriculum is used and students advance each week they attend.

Colored Pencils – ongoing 2 hour weekly sessions – max class size 5
Enjoy drawing with colored pencils, wax pencils, and conte. Techniques in blending and shading. Students advance in techniques each week.

Watercolor painting
Demonstration Style Watercolor – one 3 hour session – max class size 4
We will paint from a photo or still life using professional quality paints and 100% cotton cold pressed watercolor paper. Attendees may provide reference subject for consideration. Instructor paints same subject as the attendees and they paint alongside.

Watercolor Techniques – one 2 hour session – max class size 4
A variety of techniques are demonstrated including the flat wash, graduated wash, variegated wash, wet-into-wet, dry brushing, masking, color mixing, values, composition and using the ‘water bead’.

Oil painting
Traditional Grisaille and Color Glazing – four 1 hour sessions – max class size 3
First session – composition
Second session – value study (grisaille)
Third session – color glazing
Forth session – finishing up and final touches
We paint from a photo or still life using professional quality paints on canvas. Attendees may provide reference subject for consideration. Instructor paints same subject as the attendees and they paint alongside.

Wet into wet oil painting similar to Plein Air style. The painting is completed in one sitting. Attendees may provide reference subject for consideration. Instructor paints same subject as the attendees and they paint alongside.

Coming soon … Oil and Cold Wax – three 2 hour sessions – max class size 3
Combining cold wax medium with standard oil paints and applying with palette knife techniques to create thick, painterly marks. This is an intermediate level technique and requires experience with oil painting and palette knife. Paintings are loose and impressionist in style.

acrylic painting
Golden Open Acrylic – one 3 hour session – max class size 5
Paints and looks just like oil but the painting is actually a special type of acrylic. Excellent for alla prima wet into wet techniques. Avoids the use of solvent chemicals used in traditional oil paints. Attendees may provide reference subject for consideration. Instructor paints same subject as the attendees and they paint alongside.
