Plein air painting is the practice of creating a painting outdoors, directly from the subject, in natural light. The term, derived from the French phrase “en plein air,” emphasizes capturing the essence of a scene or subject while immersed in the actual environment. This approach allows artists to work with real-time light, color, and atmosphere, which can be challenging to replicate in a studio setting.
We paint in a loose knit group on location when the weather permits it. New to plein air – no problem, we can help. There is no cost to join us, just reach out and we’ll let you know where we are going next.
